For WWGH Radio 107.1 FM, hosted by Scott Spears, F. Lee Bailey discusses the Derek Chauvin trial and verdict as it relates to the media sensationalism surrounding the famous 1954 murder trial of Cleveland-based neurosurgeon, Dr. Sam Sheppard. In 1966, Bailey brought the Sheppard case before the U.S. Supreme Court, freeing Sheppard in a landmark decision which examined the rights of freedom of the press when weighed against a defendant’s right to a fair trial.
In this interview, Bailey discusses the parallels between the Chauvin and Sheppard cases, focusing mostly on the disparate aspects between the two outcomes. Bailey also weighs in on the Columbus, Ohio-shooting of Ma’Khai Bryant.
